OnlyRealNews is an experiment in news selection. It is driven by a frustration with the prominence of PR, and the seeming desire of news organisations to fill the web regardless of the quality of news. The aim is to highlight the hard news from within the noise.
The adjacent panel shows the news as selected by OnlyRealNews based on the criteria outlined below. The other panels show the sources of that news (and stories OnlyRealNews is rejecting) so you can see for yourself how the selection is working out.

This is a living experiment. Both the criteria and the sources may change over time.
Criteria for real news
- News is based on events
- News is not generated via PR
- Statements or opinions are not themselves news unless they have a particularly widespread or profound effect
- Confirmed stories rather than breaking news
- A human life is a human life no matter where a person comes from or what their status is
- For the purposes of this experiment no celebrity or sports stories
